The Closet - BlackRoseLace by #dapride:icondapride:

One night I was cleaning out my closet
And I came across a rainbow that had been long unnoticed.
Startled and confused, I shoved it into a drawer,
And taped it shut.
The drawer pulled at me night and day
Needing to be opened.
I continued cleaning,
Trying to find myself in the mess.
I realized that I’d seen myself around somewhere,
But I couldn’t remember where I was.
Then one night the drawer sprung a leak
And the rainbow came seeping out.
Slowly.
And by the time it was finished,
I knew I had myself
And I was ready for the rest of the world to see me as well.

"A poem about coming out I wrote after my sister asked me if I'd cleaned out my closet yet. Needless to say, I put pen to paper, and this is what i came up with. Short and simple and meaningful. I'm please with this one."

I really like this poem. It describes the process of coming out and self-acceptance really well. :)

Very nice. I love the metaphors you used and it was really originally written. Good work!

Very nicely done! :D What really stands out about this poem, I find, is the imagery. The phrase the rainbow came seeping out produces an interesting mental picture.
